The travel arrangements made by Viking were superior. The only drawback, as first Viking passengers, was we did not book Viking from our hotel at the end of the cruise to the airport and had to arrange our own transport.
we chose the extensions in both Budapest and Prague. The hotels were absolutely great and the excursions worthy of the extra cost.
Almost every excursion included both important sites and informative information about the site or tour. Often the guides related personal information about their cities, countries, and sites. There was 1 tour that I would not recommend. That is the Schonberg Palace in Vienna, Austria. There is too much to see and so little time devoted to the tour. The guides were not up to the usual Viking standards.
