We chose this cruise to go through the locks and visit Panama which was not to be. It seems you have to book a land tour with NCL or else you are held hostage on the ship till it crosses back through the locks. The 2 plus hours of going through the locks is a great experience. It stops at port for 2 hours which does not allow you to visit Panama. This cruise was also reduced in price several times and I had to discuss this matter with our NCL cruise agent in order to finally get a credit for a further cruise which has to be taken within 12 months. We couldn't get to Cayman Island because of weather and with limited time in Panama it was like 4 days at sea. They now have another private island which is a cash grab instead of their original private island where you have a free BBQ, entertainment, beach and a place to chill out. Entertainment was very limited during this 11 day cruise. One major show that was repeated during the cruise which was excellent. There were 2 main bands that worked day and night. I have no idea how these musicians were able to keep up with the pace. By the end of the cruise we knew every song in their repertoire. Food was just average. The food at the Breakfast and Lunch Buffet was mostly warm and at times cold but a fair selection. No more Dress up night or the famous lobster tail dinner. We were fortunate to have a great server the very first night and that was our highlight of the cruise, having dinner with Norman our server for 11 days. Rooms are now made up just once a day with no more turn downs at night. I do not believe that this cruise was what we expected being seasoned cruisers before the pandemic. Also not a good value for what was offered. I recommend that one should check all recent reviews before booking another cruise. Because we enjoy cruising we will check out all competitive cruises especially recent reviews.
