My Wife and I have always been adventurous and this trip to Buenos Aires, Tigre, Antarctica, and Patagonia seemed a must! The pre-trip was unexpectedly beautiful, especially Tigre. It was almost like going down the Amazon (but much closer to civilization).

The trip down to Ushaia and then Antarctica was EPIC and filled with adventures, a feeling of safety for both us and the environment, with the added feeling of being treated like royalty. The food was amazing, and extras like bar-b-cue grilled meat on the top deck al fresco... in ANTARCTICA!!! was just one of the many very welcomed surprises. The "Toys" refereed to by the crew were amazing, from Zodiac landing craft to the Special Operations Boat, and the kayaks to the submarine were both educational and enchanting. All the staff were amazing, professional, efficient, and especially friendly. Most knew our names by the end of the first day. This made all the guests more friendly and happy. The guides, naturalists, scientists, and especially Nick Cox were especially valuable. It felt like a college course, no... a year in college with the great knowledge each shared and Nick brought his experiences in both Poles with such a gift of story telling, with such charm and charisma, that every time he spoke it was standing room only in the smaller venues and a packed house in the larger. Everyone just wanted to spend time with Nick.

The trip to Patagonia was another storybook encounter with Argentina and Chile. The guides were friendly and kind. Although the documentation we got (even the day we arrived) mentioned tips of one to two dollars per day she (our first guide) said it should be $10 per person per day?!?! That's a ten fold disconnect and a bit off putting. But that was the only negative. The wildlife, the plains, the lakes, rivers, glaciers, and especially the mountains brought me to appreciate, anew, all of creation. Thank you Viking for a trip of a lifetime!

Cabin Review

Our cabin was middle of the road for price and size for this vessel and it was extremely comfortable with a good sized seating area, floor to ceiling window that opened for unobstructed view and cleaner than any I have stayed in. The staff was efficient and very friendly but almost invisible. Always helpful, grateful for even the smallest kindnesses we could show. And almost felt like family by the middle of the trip. I can only say more wonderful things about the staff.
