We have always sailed with Carnival in the past and decided to change things up this time around. I picked Harmony because of the large variety of activities onboard for my kids. Lots that we loved, but there’s still room for improvement.
Pools - enjoyed the layout of the pool deck with 3 pools and the splash pad area arranged in a big square. They were all easy to access and had nice variety in the depth. They were a bit crowded on our final sea day. One thing I didn’t appreciate was the smoking area adjacent to the pool deck. At times I could smell the smoke from the pool loungers.
Dining - food in the main dining room was consistently good. We had anytime dining and had long waits for a table during the formal nights. The lineups were short on other nights. The staff were friendly but overworked and sometimes slow in coming to refill drinks or offer coffee with dessert. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer. A few times we struggled to find a table. The food was decent for buffet style. One thing that was lacking was other lunch options near the pool deck area. The Windjammer closed at 3:00 pm and the only other option was Mini Bites, which had limited offerings and long lineups. We ended up skipping lunch some days because it was too inconvenient to go down to the Boardwalk/Promenade/Central Park for a quick bite. We also missed having 24 hour ice cream. There were only two ice cream stations (and one was often closed) with limited hours and they usually had line ups.
Cabin was modern and well laid out with plenty of storage. We were not given the option to split the Queen bed into two singles so I had to share a bed with my 8 year old. First time in a balcony room and it was a great amenity to have.
