We chose this cruise based on location and the CruiseCritic Review of 4.5 by the editor who is delusional with her ratings of this ship---have lost all confidence in CruiseCritic ship ratings. Silverseas' newest ship Silver Moon was only rated 5 stars. We have sailed on both and it is Waldorf Astoria vs Holiday Inn. First the rooms are very small. A bathroom that two people cannot stand in at the same time. A shower that is 15" wide from back wall to an always wet, cold, soggy shower curtain. Yes, shower curtain! And yes 15" wide. Wanted to repeat that info! The food is only OK! The wait staff tried very hard and were pleasant but they were overwhelmed by the hordes of people who attacked the food during dining hours. The Windows Cafe would be so crowed at lunch that you could not pass people trying to grab food. The Discoveries Restaurant at night was loud and very very busy. The ship is old and in need of refurbishing. Also, it rides like a cork---anytime we encountered a wave of over 1 foot it began to toss about. One evening, so many people were seasick that the medical staff was going through the cabins administering shots to people to help relieve their sickness. The boarding process was a total disaster---pass through one check, then off to another and then loaded onto small buses and off to another processing point at which time we had to sit and wait longer because they had only prepared one room key card. The debarkation was also a mess. They just told everyone to leave anywhere between 7:30 and 9:00AM. Guess when most of the people chose to leave---of course, 8:45AM. When we selected our cabin we did not realize we would be above the theater, our mistake. So, we heard the nightly show three times each day---the rehearsal, the first show and the second show were loud and clear in our cabin. There was never any news on TV as it always showed "No Signal" Their movie selection consisted of 12 movies! I was informed by the desk folks that due to our status we would be given 20 percent discount in the SPA along with other benefits such as discounted WiFi. However, after going for treatment, the SPA stated that "my treatment was not "Stared" and it was not included and added a 20 percent tip to the full amount! Bottom Line---after 27 cruises this was our worst...
