We wanted to spend NYS Schools’ FEB Break in the Tropics, with great dive/snorkeling locations. The 2nd Guest Sails and Flies Free made it worth it. All in, our up front cost was $2K, which included airfare from Syracuse, NY to San Juan, PR. We did not do the 2nd guest free drinking package as it still would’ve been $109 + tax + $22 for each day. We also spent around $850 on the Epic on 2 excursions ($400), some jewelry, their wifi ($120), and service fees ($40/day).

To sum up our experience, we realized that we weren’t big cruise people. I think we enjoy the freedom to do land-based adventures on our schedule. We place an incredibly low value on drinking, and stuffing ourselves with food. The onboard entertainment (meh) and the running track did not offset the loss of on-lane freedom.

(Someone made the incredibly asinine decision to place the crew’s designated smoking area at the end of the running track.)

Cabin Review

We had an interior and it was great value for the money. ($2000 including airfare). Everything worked. It was clean.Spacious enough for us. Ample close and drawer space. (We packed 2 carry-ons).

Port Reviews

Aruba

The excursion we took was the Snorkel the Antilla wreck. This was a COMPLETE waste of our limited time. pelican Advebtures sucked. We had to wait around for other excursion companies to leave the site before we could moor up. Then there was absolutely no organization. The guides just kept us hanging around the boat (not near the wreck) for 20 - 30 mins before they called us back in. The “tour” that they told us they were going to do never happened, and they yelled at us not to venture off where we could see the wreck on our own. Then they took us over to a beach for 30 mins and then brought us back to the ship. Utterly a waste of time and $$$.
