Background: My hubby and I are 30, we were sailing to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. This was the 3rd year that we've taken a Carnival Cruise in a row. We have 2 small kids and are not unsympathetic to the travelling in families, but we left our kids at home this time, and were hoping for an adults only section like we had on previous ships. We tend to drink quite a bit on our cruises, but are not the rowdy party people you meet in the hot tub. Our main goal was to relax and do nothing for 5 days.
From beginning to end almost every area of service on this ship was not what I expected based on 2 prior sailings with Carnival. I will start with the good however.
We were in Cabin 6108, it is the very first cabin on the left side of the ship, 6th floor as you are facing the front. It had a balcony, and was handicap accessible (though we didn't need for it to be). The room was truly wonderful. Because it was the forward most cabin, it was slightly larger than the other rooms (noticeably when I peeked in the door to other cabins on our way off the ship) which was nice. I did expect the balcony room to have a sofa in it, but instead it looked like the space had been used to make the bathroom handicap accessible which was probably a good trade off. The bathroom was quite large. There was a seat to sit on in the shower, and a detachable shower head. It was our first time in a balcony room, and I did enjoy being able to relax in our own private outdoor area. It seemed that it was probably extra windy in our forward location but not so much that we couldn't enjoy it. Sunny (Sunistlava?) from Russia was our cabin Steward, and she was wonderful, very chatty and always available. Other good things were the 2 comedian's.
