This ship and itinerary offers an affordable and pleasant cruise experience, providing expectations are modest & reasonable...There are few bells & whistles and flashy wows on this vessel but it's a solid cruise. The twenty-five year old ship is a nostalgic blast from the past, a reminder of what cruise ships were like back-in-the-day. Some reviewers say she looks tired and worn but I see the Elation as remarkably preserved and refurbished.
The facilities, operational procedures and staff services all combine to offer a fine cruise experience. The food quality was good, some hits, some misses and few wows. The variety of meal and snacking options and venues are pleasing...Entertainment choices are many and there's something for everyone. The pool is small and crowed, The Serenity, adults only, deck is a relief and comfortable. There's lots of open deck space rarely seen these days on newer vessels...Staterooms are basically equipped and sparsely furnished but are functional and comfortable...The staff is pleasent and overall they are most accommodating. Staff shortages at times are notable, particularly in Food & Beverage operations. Labor shortages everywhere are understandable in today's post covid labor pool, particularly in hospitality.
The Bimini port of call is a new destination for many of us veteran cruisers. This island provides attractions on both ends of the Caribbean spectrum. The northern part is easy on the eye and has three contemporary high end beach resorts; Resorts World Bimini,Hilton and Virgin Voyages Beach Resorts....The southern end of the island, Alice Town, is a working, lower income, traditional Caribbean residential community. It's the real deal, no fluff or pretenses. Beach bars & restaurants with lots of character and good Bahamian food and the Radio Beach is worth a visit for many reasons....Beautiful beaches and views!
