Cabin: Spa Balcony

Chose CCL Magic cruising to east Caribbean to use FCC from multiple delays for CCL Mardi Gras with two (2) daughters. Personnel on ship were friendly, courteous and efficient. However, the food choices were lacking, ie., one night the everyday striploin steak had no flavor whatsoever. The ship had the new CCL hull paint scheme but so many areas around each balcony cabin and deck areas were covered with rust. Shows in the main theater were less than attracting and not worth attending.

Embarking was quick and smooth. Disembarking was just the opposite and did not follow the cabin memo for leaving the ship. Have cruised before on Magic sister ship, Dream, and really enjoyed that time. This was no where like the same experience.

Had Spa cabin which supposedly had extras but none visible. Daughter went to Spa to look around and attendants just walked away so took tour by selves.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony

Cabin nice but smaller than balcony cabins on other CCL and other cruise ships. Cabin with daughters needed to have balcony door repaired to allow sleeping due to rattling and other noise. Even though ship was mainly nonsmoking, every time out on balcony, could smell cigarettes.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

For first stop with two daughters, chose segway excursion because had fun two previous defeat excursions on different islands and cruises. Daughters quick to pick up handling machines excepted though should have been exploring instead of just riding through shopping strip.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Chose jeep off-road excursion for this port stop. Drive through mountains was bumpy dodging rain ruts, rocks and bushes but all four actually enjoyed. Stops for scenery overlooking were great and time spent was appropriate. Your guides were friendly and informative. Even driving right-hand steering through rough roads was not bad.

San Juan

We used a local tour in San Juan just to ride around the islands. Cost was very reasonable and the guide was excellent. Several stops allowed for picture taking and enjoying the scenery. Different pier area from my last several stops in San Juan and the shopping center had moved. Daughters did do shopping along street where vendors had set up displays. Officers and prices were good.

Grand Turk

Did not purchase excursion this port but walked, through port stores and went to beach. Offers and prices in ships good but so much was, still from China. The beach was nice and this, was the first beach we had been to that had a solid rock bottom. Yes, there was sand entering the water and sand in spots on the bottom but the majority of the bottom was solid and not individual rocks. Kid of unique.
