We are on this cruise now via a Tauck trip. Our room is spilled with sewer gas. We finally figured out that if we run the shower constantly over 24 hours, at a low rate, it keeps the trap from allowing sewer gas into the room. The concentration of sewer gas was really bad, only 2ppm can cause bronchial construction in people with asthma, 10-50ppm you get headaches. Higher concentrations you get organ hypoxia and can DIE. Staff never came to fix the problem. They poured some drain opener into the shower half way through the trip which did nothing. Itinerary and cabin cleanliness was good. Food was very subpar - deserts were a c+ at best and the decent deserts were so few people would go to the desert counter to get one before the even had their dinner because 1) supply was inadequate, and 2) deserts were swept away stating 20 minutes before restaurant closing, allowing little time to finish a meal and get a desert if you arrived at 7:30. The restaurant is only open till 8:30 but add that to the inattentive wait staff taking 20-30 minutes to give you a menu and you end up with little time for dinner and desert. Three times we had our bread, butter, salt, pepper and condiments removed from the table while we were still eating our entree ONE HOUR BEFORE CLOSING TIME. Interestingly, it was only our table that had these items removed while vacant tables around us had used plates and were vacant for up to an hour, it was just us that kept having our condiments removed. I think we were being harassed for some reason as there is no other reason. People at adjoining tables even commented on it. I would recommend SilverSea cruise line over this ship of fools and would certainly never use Ponant again. PS; the wine was substandard as well, with better food and beverages on Viking, Oceania, and Silversea.

Cabin Review

See above. Cabin was handicap so it had extra room. Would have been great if they kept the sewer gas out of our room.
