We wanted to visit New Zealand and Australia, but had to rule out self guided road trips due to health and eyesight, so this cruise seemed to fit the bill. The ship is a comfortable size. The food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. We did not get to visit as much as we had hoped. The great scenery on the West side of the country was not included. We spent 5 days in Sydney after the trip. That was very worthwhile. A self-booked tour in Tasmania was also excellent. We also self booked a tour out of Tauranga was excellent. Ship booked tours were cancelled due to weather and mud slides. There was a lot of wind and rough seas during the 5 days from NZ to Melbourne. On board entertainment was minimal and not up to pre pandemic quality. We were happy that Holland America had not cheapened more aspects of the cruise as did sister company Carnival. The cruise director was extremely annoying. Very little useful information, but a lot of talk. Biggest missing service: had to pay $22/person for a round trip shuttle from Port Chalmers to Dunedin even though Dunedin was on the itinerary. Shuttles were free at the other ports. This charge was never communicated until we arrived at the port.

Cabin Review

It was on deck 4, starboard near the center of the ship. It had a window looking out at a lifeboat. This was fine. We could get an idea of the outside world for a very low cost upgrade from an interior cabin. It was comfortable and efficient. Service was excellent.
