We chose Viking because we wanted a relaxing cruise: no pressure or distractions. I never worried about costs on board because everything was included (except the spa treatments which were wonderful). We also bought the drink package which was worth it for the peace of mind.
The Scandinavian decor was refreshing on the eyes and ears, making the common areas even easier to unwind in. The bars each had their own style, but were all nice spaces to hang out. We also enjoyed the spa facilities, and tried it all… even the snow grotto and cold plunge.
The dining options were excellent. Though the Restaurant disappointed me a couple times: once with a huge portion of dry meat, and another time when the sommelier wasn’t accommodating. For a quick meal, we found that the World buffet always had something worth trying, and each day their menu was similar to the Restaurant’s. My favorite meal was at the Chef’s Table: just perfect!
Our stateroom was lovely: comfortable, and quiet with plenty of closet and drawer space. The coffee maker made a good cup of espresso or americano, and hubby liked the sodas and snacks in the minibar. The lighted vanity and heated floor in the bathroom were nice extras. The TV had a good selection of movies and music, as well as information.
