This cruise was supposed to be our triumphant return to cruising after the long COVID lockdown. Sadly, it proved to be a poor choice to reintroduce us to cruising.
Embarkation
Embarkation on this cruise was much better than typical from Port Everglades. Other than a delay caused by an incompetent employee erasing our passport data, we were less than 15 minutes getting on the ship. We arrived at the port very early because we were warned to expect heavy traffic delays. Despite our early arrival, we were on the ship by 10:30.
We had a balcony cabin. It was quite standard. The main "plus" was the presence of 4 USB ports for charging...no need for a power strip any more. Be prepared: there are only 5 small drawers available.
BZE-150 Open Air Trolley Tour
The Belize trolley was horrible. While sitting on the trolley, we were accosted by people trying to sell us things. One of those people harassed a poor woman relentlessly until she finally bought something. The tour itself showed us mainly slums, homelessness, and beggars. Overall it presented Belize as a dirty, crime-ridden place of poverty.
In Costa Maya we stayed right at the port area. There are a lot of activities and fun to experience right off the ship. We had a reasonably priced couples massage and I had my feet “eaten” by piranha fish. We enjoyed our time here.
Cozumel: CZM-305 Mayan ruins and cocoa tour
The Mayan ruins we explored in Cozumel were NOT what we expected. Despite that, they were interesting. The "Chocolate experience" was simply marketing for an overpriced gift shop. It was a waste of time.
RTB-270 Brewery tour
The Roatan brewery tour was interesting and fun. The brewery itself is clean, modern, and incorporates the island - Jungle look into a functional brewery. The tour was informative and the owner was a very nice, interesting person. They served sausages as well. This was actually a very good value.
