This was our second time on the Journey, we previously had sailed a Baltic’s itinerary in 2018. We loved that itinerary, this one was not as good for us. Be aware that the ports are chosen for the safari tours you can take from the ports, not the actual ports. There is really nothing to do and most are very poor. Be sure to plan excursions!

The ship is still in good shape. Our cabin was very small and the bathroom was extremely small, the bed is very comfortable . Our sailing was full so I did notice some crowded areas. We really enjoy peace and quiet so would end up in the library reading which was really nice. The guests on this sailing were a very friendly group, but loud. In fairness we had a suite on the 2018 sailing and only an oceanview on this one. We missed the suite.

The food was very good, we ate in Discoveries for dinners, we do not like buffets so avoided them. We did not attend the white night party or the azamazing evening. The entertainment was very poor. This was a change from 2018, which we had enjoyed. We would mostly opt to go to the living room and have drinks and listen to music with other passengers. The staff is absolutely wonderful, so friendly and helpful. We only drink red wine so we really liked the included Cabernet and the staff always remembered , our glasses were never empty. We spent a week precruise on safari in Kruger park which was great and a few days in the wine lands which was beautiful. To sum it all up we had a great trip and recommend Azamara!

Cabin Review

Club Oceanview Stateroom

We were in 4050, which we found very tight for the 2 of us.

Port Reviews

Cape Town

Lots to see and do, took ships excursion to the wine land’s which was ok, not great. Azamara is now packing 40 people to a tour rather than the small groups they used to do. Did the hop on hop off bus one day which is a great way to see a lot.

Port Elizabeth

Did the ships port Elizabeth walking tour which was not good.

Durban

Did the ship excursion driving tour with oyster box hotel high tea, which was nice

Richards Bay

Terrible port, they export coal from here, extremely dirty and dusty. The free ship shuttle drops you at a shopping mall with nothing else to see
