This was our fifth time on the Koningsdam. We are four star mariners and have always enjoyed Holland America. Not this time. The embarkation was a nightmare. I've never experienced such long lines and extended wait times.

The cabin was fine, the entertainment OK, but dining was very difficult. They only have a few fixed time dining slots which go very quickly. We were left with 'anytime dining', which really meant stand in a long line and wait to check in. Then wait for your pager to go off, then wait forever in the dining room. They seem to be pushing people to go to the buffet instead of the dining room.

The ship felt very crowed and understaffed. We waited for over an hour to get on a tender boat in Maui, even though we delayed getting a tender ticket for several hours to let the excursions and anxious travelers to go through. Read more
