We chose the cruise based on: 1) timing (before OSHER classes resume), 2) # of nights -- we wanted more than three days but didn't need the full seven days in the Caribbean), 3) location (someplace warm), 4) geared toward adults, 5) other reviews (mostly great), and 6) price (very reasonable).
This is a refurbished ship (2018-2019) with about 2200 passengers (mid-size by today's standards).
- great food, entertainment, service, solarium, activities (see specific review of each below)
Inside cabin which we prefer! Small but lots of storage space. Small shower space but it was fine for us.
We didn't schedule any excursion for this trip. We walked into the village near the pier. Bought vanilla. A lot of vendors wanted us to come in and taste their liquor or see their jewelry, etc.
We chose a "Daycation" through Daycation.com -- you can sign up for a 20% first time discount. We chose a hotel in Miami Beach that offered free baggage hold, access to their pool, beach and umbrellas. Food/drink were additional. We chose the Hotel Riu, and liked it enough. The hotel next door offered nicer cushioned beach lounge chairs which would have been nice. We took a cab from the Pier to the Hotel ($51+). An Uber would have been about $34, but we didn't know how easy it would be to get an Uber based on previous experience. We Uber'd to the Miami Airport at 5 pm to give us time to check in/eat at the Airport
