It would be hard to say what was the best part of the Viking Danube Waltz, because we had a great experience the entire time. Whether on the boat, experiencing terrific food and service, or on land with knowledgeable and engaging guides.

There were 3 couples, all traveling on our first cruise, and by the second day we were trying to decide where to cruise next with Viking (it will be on the Rhine Getaway in October 2023). We did have the Silver Spirits drinks package included, which we certainly enjoyed but would have had a great experience even without that. We enjoyed the daily excursion which was included each day. By not paying additional for the non-included excursions, we had a good amount of free time in each port city to explore on our own. On the other hand, we met many fellow travelers who did add those excursions and got universally good reports. The service was better than than the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at and the convenience of not having to pack and unpack each day or two was a very enjoyable luxury. We stayed in the smallest cabin at the water line and have nothing negative to report about that experience. We added on the Budapest post-cruise stay and were very glad that we did, the hotel, Corinthia Budapest, was excellent and the Viking service continued through the trip back to the airport. We also, did an air deviation, so that we could spend a few days in Munich prior to the cruise on our own. Viking Air was very accommodating and made that process easy.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom

Lowest priced and more than adequate. Balcony would have been an unnecessary expense. For the couple of times that we cruised during the day, the top deck was perfect for viewing the countryside.
