Excellent service throughout the cruise. DInner wait staff was very attentive. Food was always top notch. Room was cleaned twice daily by housekeeping crew. The smaller sized ship Viking utilizes allows for more personal attention and opportunities for the crew to meet or exceed your expectations for the cruise, be it food, drinks, or housekeeping. Although the Orion is scheduled for dry dock refurbishment later this year, the ship was clean and well appointed. Some of the furniture and carpet in the common areas was showing wear, but the cabins were generally in good conditions and the mattresses and bedding top rate.

The entertainment was top rate and we enjoyed that as well as the 'port talks' where highlights of the next port of call were described.

The downside on Viking cruises appear to be the off shore excursions and reserved dining in their specialty restaurants. The optional off shore excursions filled within five minutes of when the website opened for registration and we missed out on many options. Some of the included off shore excursions were perfunctory at best and should be reevaluated for content and venues. Specialty dining was very difficult to reserve.
