I have been an avid cruiser for my entire adult life. Before this trip I was on 29 previous sailings over many years, all of them with Royal Caribbean. I have been on the old Sovereign class ships, Vision class, Radiance class, Voyager class, and of course the Freedom class. Due to financial changes in my life, before this sailing I had not been on a cruise for 12 years. A lot has changed, some not for the better. I received this trip on Liberty of the seas as a Christmas gift. I was very excited, but also did not have unrealistic expectations. So here is my review / observations, keeping in mind I have never been on any of the Oasis class and up.

* Liberty of the seas: The ship has the same flaws from her design days. My biggest complaint is you still constantly have to wait for the elevators. Too many people for how many lifts they have. I also find the layout of the Windjammer to be way too much like a cafeteria. Buffet lines after buffet lines, and not enough seating for how many are on board the ship. In the refurbish, they never fixed these two main issues. As far as the décor of the ship, yes its dated (as you would expect from an older ship) but it was very clean and the staff was incredibly nice.

* My stateroom: I stayed in an Owners suite. Very very comfortable, spacious, clean. The only thing I can say it could of used is an overhaul on the styling and décor. Its very dated, but again, I did expect that on an older ship.

Cabin Review

Owner's Suite

The owners suite was just as spacious and comfortable as I remember, but the yes, the décor and styling are dated, as you would expect from an older ship. The suite service and special attention you receive as a suite guest are still second to none, even better than when I sailed many years ago.
