We are extensively experienced travelers in our late 60's and chose this 51 night cruise for the itinerary. I should say this is our second experience with an extended cruise on Oceania this year. Our previous cruise on Insignia was spring of 2022 and I did post a review afterwards. We almost cancelled this cruise due to the Insignia experience but were more forgiving due to restart issues. At this point, I don't want to hear "supply chain" as an excuse for why something is missing- I translate that a either poor management or "we don't care attitude." Overall, I feel like this ship is quite nice with the exception of the "ikea" type closets that squeak when we are running. I assume they will fix that in the 2024 refurb. Their food is not the "best a sea"- in fact, is was better quality last spring- I was shocked at the deterioration in the specialty restaurants. And quite frankly- Jacques pepin creates some weird food. I Consider myself a foodie, but some of it is inedible. I was sickened twice by the food in my nearly 51 days (not home yet). The beds are miserably soft- if you have back problems and need a firm mattress you are out of luck. Our stateroom attendant flipped the mattress for me but then it's like sleeping on plywood. Adam, our concierge cabin attendant was great and much better than our butler on Insignia (PH1). The spa is beyond overpriced and I had to have my color done on this long of a cruise- she did a terrible job and it cost 273.00 with tip- I have short hair. The other services were ridiculously priced so i had them remove my nail polish and went bare. I do love that we can bring our own wine onboard as well as spirits. that is a huge plus! I think we were ready to overlook the mediocre food and even the miserable bed and book another grand voyage until we realized that being late to every port and missing out on the length of our pre-booked shore excursions was deliberate! Yes- you heard that right- NCLH and oceania have decided that slowing the ships down, missing ports, and cutting our excursions so short that we had to run on some of them in order to see what we were supposed to see in service of "reducing our carbon footprint" is the way of their future and for those of us onboard with longer excursions- tough luck! OK-THATS THE FINAL STRAW- when I choose a line for the itinerary and then you just decide not to go to a port or slow us down and give us less time in each port in service of your corporate agenda- well then- shame on me for thinking you might improve your attitude and think of the customer first. If you are saving on fuel- just surcharge us- we know its in the contract but don't ruin our port days and shore excursions. I'm reading that its the habit of Oceania to miss ports and give us another sea day- I had 8 in a row on this trip- I didn't sign up for that! I'm sad that Oceania has deteriorated to this level because I do love their itineraries and we were so interested in a 78 night one in 2025 but really- I doubt that the itinerary will look anything like what is advertised and unfortunately my lack of trust in anything they tell me is totally gone. Communication from staff is sorely missing- you only hear from the capt the next series of bad weather or missed ports. The attitude towards complaints from passengers is "too bad< that's the way it is." Shore excursions is rude about the lateness of our starts and the shortened excursions- kind of like "too bad- that's the way it is." I do so love the bathtub and the bathroom in our concierge veranda room- I don't care for just having a shower and that's what we would get on Riviera or after this ship goes to refurb- so alas, my favorite thing about this cabin will be gone. I would give it 3 stars then. For a ships that fancies itself as luxury- its not- but I could be ok with that as long as the days in port were wonderful. You can't advertise GRand voyages and then not deliver on your port days.

Cabin Review

Concierge Level

the furniture is ikea like- faux wood and the closet is obnoxious- it squeaks in seas and right next to the bed so you can't sleep. There is a lot of storage- great for a 51 night cruise. Loved our stateroom attendants- Adam and Sherman. they are so very accommodating and kept our room clean and wonderful. Kudos to them- I suggest they go work for Celebrity! the bed is soft and awful- I know some folks like soft. The room air temp is not really controlled by us- the ship got warmer at night despite where we had our temp controls. I have read that the ship does that.... I loved my bathtub- it was wonderful- I hate they are taking them out! Its great there is a bathtub separate from the shower- we could both get ready after being out all day.

Port Reviews

Santarem

we had a terrible ships tour- ran around to a bunch of sites at high speed and then ended up at a shopping mall- really???? overlooking a crowded beach- day cut short due to being late to port.
