Having spent a number of early January holidays in Tenerife with friends we decided to try the Canary isle cruise with P & O as an alternative. And as an ex-merchant navy officer I was excited to experience a P & O Cruise. On Arrival a sign said "whats your first impressions"? Well ! Boarding appeared to be via the crews quarters. with pipework, old paintwork and various signs. Having previously boarded a MSC cruise ship straight into the accommodation and gone "WOW" it left me a little underwhelmed. ( Maybe this port had no alternative access, but I sure there was a boarding bridge nearby)
Overall the ship is adequate, cabin was really nice and spotless, however its slightly dated, it cannot compare with the modern ships now being built. It just didn't have the wow factor. for example the atrium was ok , but the staircase was quite plain. no Swarovski jewelled staircase here.
We were really looking forward to the sail away party from Tenerife ! up on deck early drink in hand, ship sailed quietly out, with the DJ saying OMG we are moving. and that was it! no horn, no "time to say goodbye" ! no memories made here.
Balcony cabin deck 14 starboard side. It had everything you needed. comfy bed, clean bedding, clean bathroom with lots of hot water.
Lot of lamps, TV, phone. TV programmes left a bit to be desired, but who goes on holiday to watch the tv.
Fridge, tea making facilities. hair dryer wardrobe, safe. two adjustable chairs on the balcony.
All Clean and tidy. Cleaned every morning to a good standard. exactly what we expected.
