I am a Carnival Gold member who loves to cruise. Had it not been for COVID, we would platinum. A number of friends told us that we had to try Royal Caribbean (RC). They promised we would never go back to Carnival. Well, they were wrong.
The first issue we had was having our first port canceled. We were supposed to go to Progresso on our first stop. Royal Caribbean canceled the stop claiming the port could not handle all the scheduled ships that day. Fair enough, but what struck me as funny is most frequent cruisers know the reason most book this cruise is to see Chichen Itza.
We immediately called our travel agent. We found out we had no options to get out of this cruise and get on another RC cruise that would allow us to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We were only going to Cozumel--probably the most generic stop in the entire cruise industry. There were no refunds, credits, or anything available despite this important fact that Progesso is the port that gets you to Chichen Itza. I mean, you don't go to Progesso for their beaches.
The shower design is better than I have experienced on past cruises.
I know COVID took millions of dollars away from ports like Cozumel, but the vendors were too pushy this time. Very annoying. Also, stay away from Roma Jewelry.
Paradise Beach is still our favorite destination.
