Another great Viking experience. This itinerary was on our bucket list, so we had high expectations. We were pleased in all regards. We flew to Amsterdam. The airport was busy, but once we picked up our luggage and the Viking representatives met us, everything went smoothly. (Kudos to United for a great flight, too!) The tours were entertaining and informative. Since our last Viking cruise, the line added a G Group to the tours, with shorter walks, bypassing more challenging terrain. Food on board was very good, particularly the local themed items. A few of the stops were less than impressive. Cologne needs to clean up the streets, and the exterior of the cathedral REALLY needs to be cleaned. Still, it was a great stop for local food and beer. Budapest was disappointing, but not due to anything Viking controlled. The city is still recovering from being part of the eastern bloc. It looks like a lot of maintenance and repairs still needs to be done on buildings in the city center. The return flight went on Brussels Airway from Budapest to Brussels. Avoid this carrier at all costs! Horrid cabin service, rude flight attendants, lost luggage, and no one was helpful at all. The Viking part of the trip went well enough that we booked our next Viking cruise yesterday.
