We chose this cruise because we loved the itinerary...so exciting to sail around the bottom of South America!

The Star is in excellent condition thanks to the crew's constant upkeep. It seemed as though we saw painters working every single time we were walking around. The food was excellent with a wide variety to choose from; food service was excellent as well.

The onboard entertainment was excellent. Loved the White Magic Show as well as the Tango/Gaucho shows. Also, it seemed as though every venue had great music. We particularly loved the Gatsby Lounge where the staff was almost as much entertainment as the musicians and singers.

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Picture Window

We loved our oceanview cabin. It was small, but it had everything we needed. Our experience was made even better by our room attendant, Deisi. She was excellent in all respects!

We did have a tiny problem on our first night of rough seas...the drawers kept sliding open and closed. That was quickly remedied with wedges of paper.

Port Reviews

Buenos Aires

This port was actually in the freight port. When we exited the ship we boarded buses to take us to the passenger terminal. It was all handled quite well and very quickly.

We stayed at a hotel across from the Obelisk. Our side of the street had lots of American franchise restaurants and some gift shops. The other side of the street was pretty much all boarded up with a lot of people lying around on the sidewalks.

The highlight of our stay was a Viator excursion to an early evening Tango Dinner. The dinner was excellent and the show was incredible.

Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego)

We took Wildlife Cruise & Tierra Del Fuego National Park excursion. The visit to the park was quite dusty and involved a twenty minute visit to the post office at the end of the world. Then we sat on the bus for 90 minutes waiting to get on our cruise. The cruise was good, we saw one penguin, but not great.

Afterwards, we wandered the streets of Ushuaia. It was Sunday so not much was open, but the streets are clean and easy to get around in.

Stanley

Our favorite port of the trip. Took the Lagoon Bluff excursion and had a great time visiting the penguins. Would have loved to spend more time visiting the city, but the line for the tenders was quite long and we needed to get it in so we wouldn't miss the boat.

Montevideo

We walked around the old city and visited La Rambla. Both were clean and easy to navigate. Walked to Independence Square and Constitution Square...both were impressive.
