Sail Date: Jan 2023

We wanted a winter getaway and took this 14 night Canaries one on Iona, booking it 11 months prior to sailing - as a result we got £275 on-board credit, but our in-laws booked the same balcony cabin on deck 12 (five doors from ours) in November and paid £200 less plus got £600 on-board credit.

Embarkation was difficult, with huge queues taking over an hour to shuffle upstairs and get your cruise card - if you can't stand for long periods, you would not have appreciated this.

The food was very good wherever we ate, but sometimes in the Main Dining Rooms (MDRs) it was lukewarm, and the waiting service could be very slow - one night it took over 2 hours to get our 3 course meal. It seems that loads of the staff were new (including our room steward), and they were struggling. Our bedding wasn't changed for the duration - strange!. We requested ice every evening, but didn't always get it.

Cabin Review

Cosy (small) standard balcony with lots of storage space, a nice tv, small inefficient fridge and kettle/hairdryer.

Large Queen sized bed due to it being two singles clipped together. Pillows were poor and we got 2 softer ones from the Steward.

Small shower (not a power shower) was ok - some guests had their water supply cut off and one woman was complaing of her shower flooding.
