We decided to do this cruise because of it's very different itinerary. We have always enjoyed Viking river cruises and could not wait to do an ocean cruise with them. My advice: DON'T.
The staff were all very good and quite helpful, BUT
The food was just so-so, and eating in the main dining room was way too long, 2 1/2 to 3 hours each night. The food in the buffet was underwhelming, and the selection pretty small.

WE loved doing a portion of the Amazon river, but the tours from Viking didn't show us much. Luckily, we had booked another cruise on a local river ship, the Iberostar, and they did an exceptional job. We loved seeing all of the VERY different things along the Amazon River
