We chose this river cruise because we had been on the Rhine with Viking before and so enjoyed it. Perhaps August wasn't the best time to travel because we had to deal with low water levels in the Danube that kept us from getting to our final port. That, in turn, kept us from getting to experience our final excursion due to the distance involved in busing us there. Viking was willing to do it, but all of the passengers signed up for that excursion agreed that the drive would be too long.
Viking was so attentive to our needs in many ways. Due to major travel issues we were extremely late arriving in Budapest to board our ship. Viking met us at the nearly deserted airport at 11:30 pm and had food waiting for us in our room when we finally made it to the Egil. We had no luggage for three days and they accommodated us by letting us by laundering our clothes at no charge.
All in all, we loved the cruise even with the water level issues. So many interesting things to see and do. We also
Beautiful immaculate cabin. It was a tad small, but we didn't spend much time in it anyway. Did have a problem with getting locked out (accidentally) on our balcony! Thank goodness someone was also outside on the upper deck and looking over the edge and heard our cry for help, so we weren't out there too long. Lol.
