This was our 2nd Viking Cruise (also did the Seine, Paris to Normandy and back which was also fantastic) and it did not disappoint. From the time you land until you leave they take great care of you every step of the way. The staff is super friendly, the ship and stateroom was comfortable and spotless (stateroom with veranda is a must upgrade), wifi worked great, entertainment is reserved but still fun and the food is outstanding. The scenery along the way is stunning. The stops ranged from large cities to quaint villages and all the guides were terrific. I'm a huge Viking fan and don't think I could be swayed to travel with any other river cruise line. My only constructive criticism of this itinerary is that the Black Forest excursion should be a full day. The allotted time is simply not enough to take in everything you could. If you go, take a couple of days before or after depending on your direction of travel to go to Lucerne, Switzerland, only a one hour train ride from Basil. It is absolutely beautiful.
