We began our Cruise Tour in Fairbanks. Our tour guide for the land portion was DJ. He was FANTASTIC!!!! Our accommodations in Fairbanks were at the Wedgewood Resort. We stayed in a one bedroom apt while there. Clean, but nothing fancy. We ate breakfast at the resort, buffet style. We also ate there for supper, which was REALLY good. My husband and I typically share a plate of food and thank goodness we did this here......they gave us a LOT of food. Our meal that night cost us $14 and we walked away full!!! Their is a car museum that is NOT to be missed on the resort....I'm not a "car person" but thoroughly enjoyed this tour!!! Tickets are provided free of charge!
Our first full day was spent on the Riverboat Discovery Tour in the morning and the El Dorado Gold Mine Tour in the afternoon. Both were fun! Luckily we were doing good on time and were able to stop and see the Alaskan Pipeline.
The next morning we hopped the train for Denali. Very nice ride and very good food on the lunch menu. We had an awesome narrator on this portion of the train ride. Once in Denali we boarded our bus for the Tundra Wilderness Tour. We were provided with a snack for this since it was a deep wilderness tour into the park. We were very lucky to see a LOT of wildlife....even though the tour got a little long, (about 8 hours) we still enjoyed it. Accommodations for the night were at the Grande Denali Lodge. The rooms were nothing fancy, but clean.
