Loved Prague. Viking booked us a hotel near the Old Town section, and everything was perfect. One of my favorite cities. From Prague we bused into Germany to get on our cruise. The staff, as always, were fantastic! Our room was exactly as we expected. We love the balcony and spent our evenings sitting out and enjoying the passing scenery. The food was good, not great, but very good. We took the Viking Grand European cruise several years ago and loved everything about it.
The one thing we didn't like about Prague to Paris cruise itself, was that they only stopped at the various cities for an hour or two. Not even enough time to do the tour, much less browse and shop or eat. Tours were quick and then "let's get back to this ship". Very disappointed. Many of this passengers on board complained about how hurried everything felt. If the Grand European had been like this, we would never have booked another Viking Cruise.
We had been to Paris once before on our own and were excited to be back. What a disappointment. We had booked the extension for a few extra nights in Paris. The hotel that Viking booked us in, while very new, had absolutely no ambiance. The rooms were extremely small, absolutely no dresser drawers to put our clothes in. We had to literally live out of our suitcases for 3 nights!!! We paid $500 a night and ended up with a "communist" looking hotel with bare corridors everywhere. And the hotel itself was located on the other side of Paris, so it was not convenient to get to various tourist sites. The only saving grace was that the breakfasts were delicious!
I don't remember what cabin category we had, but we had a walk-out balcony. We loved our room and the balcony!
