This was our first Regent cruise, and we selected it based on the itinerary, which covered Southern Africa, a transatlantic leg, and Rio to Buenos Aires. Regent was a favorite cruise line of acquaintances of ours, so we had high expectations.

Pre-cruise, I read the reviews from passengers and started to have some concerns. But since the itinerary was so compelling, I set aside the various complaints and assumed the performance would be improving post-Covid.

However, we had some serious disappointments. The excursions were overbooked, with 30-40 guests for a guide. No audio support meant we often couldn’t hear the guide during significant portions of the tours. Sites were very rushed, and there were no differentiations for fast and slow walkers, meaning that every tour went at the slowest passenger pace. Guides were very hit-and-miss. Some had a breadth of knowledge while others were much less informed.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Suite

Spacious, but just tired and worn. A couple of maintenance issues occurred during our stay.

Steward staff were amazing, and the valet laundry is such a nice perk.
