We love Celebrity. The Edge is a visually beautiful ship, clean and new with a great crew. Captain Tasos is very involved with many announcements and playing Liars Club in the theater. Unfortunately, the ship is not designed for a comfortable cruise. There is little to no shade on the main deck and if this is important to you it will be a problem. We were in a Celebrity Suite in the Retreat. They have added a number of giant umbrellas on the retreat sundeck but it still is insufficient and finding a lounge in the shade is like musical chairs. We don't bother getting off the ship in port as we have been many times and on port days the retreat is like a private oasis. Our Retreat concierges Yulia and Alex were terrific. The upstairs lounge lovely. It's not the Haven because its on three different floors. The retreat restaurant is spacious and light filled with an abundance of servers. The food frankly is not good enough. Excellent escargot, French onion soup, salads and good desserts. The mains are only ok to poor. The filet when on the menu is very good. Lobster tail tiny. I wish they would list the always available on the menu. It took half the cruise until we could pry it out of our servers. You cannot order off the MDR on the Edge class because their kitchen is too far away. Our problem was with the design of the room. After I tripped over the huge rocking chair twice our excellent butler Jess removed it , brought in a chair from the balcony and found a lounger for the balcony. He and Shoshi the steward were eager to please and very hard working. I didn't have a drawer next to the bed but some camp cubbies. There are not enough drawers in the room and NO counter space in the bathroom. The bathtub although lower than Soltice class is still a royal pain. So narrow that you cannot stand with your feet next to the other. I wish they would just replace with a nice big walk in shower. The smoked glass enclosing the bed is stupid. No one can sleep with so much light coming from the TV. Very few movies but you could watch the NFL games. Entertainment was ok. Several singers like Andrew Derbyshire and Shades of Buble were excellent. The theater shows had very talented singers and dancers ( really fabulous) but the LA packages of what they had to perform were awful. Celebrity thinks if they throw in a few circus performers that makes a show. The weather was beautiful, only a few sprinkles and the other guests were so friendly that we easily made friends to chat with. Everyone is kind and caring. I saw only a handful of masks and less wheel chairs than usual. The ship was 90% full , the Retreat sold out but except for finding shade, it didn't feel crowded. The elevators are the best that I've ever encountered. We went to the Steakhouse ( Fine Cut) twice , the only thing we liked was the shrimp cocktail and the wedge salad. Eden , once ( really great) we loved it ,Yummy appetizers and they encouraged us to order three or four and the Lobster Casserole, Raw on Five where we had enormous Wellfleet oysters and good sushi and the Roof Top Grill which we really enjoyed on a lovely evening with great wings, lamb chops and excellent service. We had a great time even though we felt that in order to have good food you need to eat in specialty restaurants. We've been on 50+ cruises since 1990 and I think they just are struggling with debt from the Covid shutdown.

Cabin Review

Celebrity Suite

Spacious Celebrity Suite. Poor storage ( very few drawers). No counter space in the bathroom ( did have a medicine cabinet). Needed to remove dangerous rocking chair. poor privacy in bedroom because of see through glass. Butler was great and brought me a lounge chair for the balcony. Seward was excellent. No reading lights for the bedroom so forget about reading in bed, complicated lighting that was poorly designed. Very pretty room with flowers, fruit, and nightly chocolates. Curtains operate by motor so you are in or out. I hear that they corrected a lot of things on the Beyond. Added outlets on the desk which was very helpful.
