We really enjoy the relaxation a cruise provides and were looking forward to sailing on the Pride Of America around the Hawaiian Islands leaving Honolulu Jan 7th 2013 returning Jan 14th 2013 . We love Hawaii and have been there many times and visited all Islands, so thought why not see the islands from a Cruise ship.
However:If you want to spend the day watching the Hawaii Islands drift by with views of the coasts and a cocktail in hand you will be bitterly dissappointed as 90% sailing is done at night. We were very surprised that the ship left all ports (except Kaui) after dark, if it left at 4pm or even 5pm at least guests could see some of the islands coastal views for an hour of two and shore excursion people could still have a great day on the island. It seems the focus is keeping you off the ship every day as food and entertainment options drop to almost zero whilst in port. So be prepared.
Pride Of America is the only ship that actually leaves from and returns to Hawaii it has some great advantages. Price is not one of them compared to more competitive South Pacific/Caribbean/European cruises where you have a choice of cruise lines.
