Standards have fallen on SAGA. The restaurant staff all seem hassled. Food delivered via cabin service was not hot. Disembarkation at Portsmouth was lengthy and dispiriting. The overall atmosphere is a cross between a retirement home and a golf club bar. The captain seemed to use that as an excuse for a sense of humour that belongs in the 1970s. The best thing is the hardworking ‘hotel’ staff who are generally helpful and friendly. As a result the ship is clean, and cabins well looked after. The entertainers really do need to learn to sing in tune. Sadly it was a succession of West End wanabees.
Excursions are OK if pricey. The Wi-Fi was very variable, not acceptable these days. The price is higher than most companies, although drinks and some transport costs are included. I’m not sure whether the inclusive package is as good as it might seem for those on a budget.
