I loved the itinerary of going from Buenos Aires to Santiago, around the Horn. This was also over Christmas and New Years. They did a good job of having the Christmas spirit and did celebrate New Years in a grand way. Captain gets a 5 star along with Manuel, Crew Director. Housekeeping and Servers a 5 star. But the food was ordinary or a bit tasteless. Food and desserts looked good but food was a little ordinary. The ship is older but sufficient. We knew ahead of time that it was older but AOK unless you want more glitz. We just thought the food would be better. We ate on shore several times and had memorable meals so it wasn't our taste buds (we thought maybe going thru Covid in the past that maybe it was us). We would rate the food as a 3 star unfortunately. Also, some equal cruise lines have ice sculptures, and over the top desserts. Our sit down dinner in the main dining room was pleasant and the servers incredible. In the past, when we used Holland, Cherries Jubilee was flamed at our table with great gusto and wonderful flavor. Here it was runny with melted ice cream. The servers were great. We actually teared up when we left. The passengers were also mostly from South America and/or Mexico and they were great to be around. We probably will look for another Cruise line. The entertainment was good. I think that some other lines offer more enrichment as we had quite a few sea days. It was overflowing for the Sushi demonstration but not full for the "mental health speaker" who interrupted the Captain during his talk about getting thru the Straight of Magellan (do wear patches) because it was his turn to speak about overconfidence (real story). You do see penguins galore, beautiful glaciers, wonderful little towns, etc. We just would probably chose to spend our calories on something decadent and memorable!

Cabin Review

Cabin was fine. It is older and the sinks need redoing. Our bed and bedding were wonderful. They also had 3 types of pillows as we had the Concierge add on. The service was incredible. We had "treats" brought to our room daily. I do not have an issue with the cabin although some people may want more glitz. But the food in this ship was not what we expected in the past. Service was probably above average.

Port Reviews

Buenos Aires

We were there during the excitement of the World Cup! WOW! Great food. Early Tango show was nice and food surprising good.

Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego)

Great little town. Beautiful. People are down to earth and fun. We had crab and it was memorable! I can still taste it!

Punta Arenas

We visited the penguins over a dirt road. Great, great tour. We had lamb later and again it was memorable!

Santiago (Valparaiso)

We found Chili to be a piece of paradise. I wish we would have stayed in Valparaiso for a night and then moved to Santiago. We spent 4 days in Santiago. The steak at La Cabrera (which is a chain and also in the airport!). Also the pizza at Pizzeria Tiramisu. I would highly recommend both. We also shopped the 200 shops at Pueblito de los Dominicos and would recommend that if you want "Made In Chili" items and a quiet environment.
