Great luxury cruise with beautiful scenery and penguins BUT a disappointment as an expedition. We did not get what we paid for which was 7 days of multiple water craft experiences and landings in Antarctica. Spent two extra days in Ushuaia waiting for smooth water to cross the Drake Passage. That reduced the expedition days to down to 5. Spent two 6.5 hour days on bus tours around Ushuaia. OK, we’re on our way things will get better.
I really do understand how weather conditions can affect the schedule, because our planned itinerary disintegrated before we left the port of Ushuaia. What disappoints me is the expedition’s crew inability to produce the experiences promoted during the remaining time on the cruise.
#1 ALL submarine excursions were canceled. Quietly at first, but they finally claimed that a warning light could not be disengaged. Polaris has TWO brand new submarines on board. What does that imply about the expedition’s mechanical and operational teams? 72 passengers each paid thousands of dollars on upgraded fares for an experience that never materialized. Compensation, NOTHING but words, “Thank you for understanding.”
