50th Birthday present for my wife. We took the Viking Danube river cruise in 2019 and loved the Viking experience.

with this cruise, the information regarding arrival in Bangkok was poor. We booked a hotel ourselves as the flight arrived in the early hours. There turned out to be many people arriving at the same time. Viking representatives (excellent as always) met us (a surprise as there was no prior communication of this -hence our booking a hotel at the airport). They took us all to another hotel - about a 90-minute coach trip - all we needed after 24 hours on the plane! that was the first of many tedious hours on the coach - as at last of three of the excursions required several hours driving time - notably Bangkok and Jakarta. We actually "ditched" two of our (paid for) excursions to go exploring on our own as we couldn't do another long coach trip.

Aside from that, the trip was definitely one in a lifetime - the ship, cuisine, service and entertainment as first class as you would come to expect from Viking. The excursions (although occasionally tedious) enabled us to see some wonderful and breathtaking sights. Read more
