Kudos to Kenneth Whetstone of Silversea - my second fantastic cruise through his efforts! Following is a “trip report” that I sent him. Having seen some “iffy” reviews on Cruise Critic about Silversea before I wanted to give credit where credit was due!
……Of all the people I met on my cruise, I seemed to have the “best of the best” in both hotel and suite service! Of course, I beamed from ear to ear! Most of the passengers I met were repeat SS cruisers, some still happy, and others not at all happy. (Being a former non-US resident, and multi cruise line, multi country traveler, I understand there are differences in destination produce, products, touring, etc. Having lived 15 years in Switzerland and England, and traveling extensively, I completely “hear” and apologize for an American trait “it’s not like home….”) I think the majority of some of the complaints I heard were due to the geographic area.
The Raffles at the Palm Dubai was astounding! Even at 3+ am, the butler brought me bandaids for blisters! I’ll attach pics separately in case it interferes with sending this. I never got to bed at that hour obviously - busy unpacking my beloved and only belongings in my carryon (checked luggage apparently went to Guyana for 3 days), exploring my magnificent room and reading my “welcome” information. Breakfast buffet on both mornings was outstanding, as was our dinner the night we had there. The cirque-like show (which began to look slightly familiar until I realized I’d seen it in China) and dinner following were exceptional. Our guide (sp?) Maneesh was wonderful.
Fantastic! I was traveling alone so had MORE than enough room, storage, space and amenities! I was guaranteed verandah and was upgraded to deluxe veranda, deck 6 midship. Nothing was ever amiss and both butler and cabin attendant exemplary!
Absolutely astounding! Beautiful architecture, pristine cleanliness - even vehicles are required to be kept clean! No graffiti, no begging, no homelessness! Guide had extensive knowledge on Dubai and UAE in general. Wish our government could learn from them….

Chaos! What a change from UAE! Dirty, traffic nightmares, honking horns….but wonderful historical sights if you can put up with the rest!
CC is not offering me option to review Agra/ Taj Mahal……it was breathtaking and surpassed everything I had anticipated.
Beautiful as well, but the first place we actively saw construction going on! Don’t know how UAE haS done as much in 20 years as they have! We could take a few lessons….tallest building in the world in Abu Dhabi, 4 yrs to complete. Us? Four years for negotiations for building permits!
