My wife wanted to go to the Panama Canal so we booked what we thought would fit us best. Check In was great. Cabin was nice except we where on deck 8 aft under the Lido deck aft pool area. Everytime someone moved a deck chair or lounger you heard it. Our room stewards were great. The food at the Lido Market which was the buffet was disappointing. Probably the worst cruise buffets we've ever had. The formal "Dining Room" was nice. The food wasn't spectacular but good and the staff was great. We ate at two premium restaurants, the Tamarind and the Pinnacle Grill. The Pinnacle Grill wasn't worth the extra expense. Food was just so so. The Tamarind had good food but we had a problem with a waitress. Not our waitress but a waitress who wasn't even working in our section. I drink unsweetened tea and use Splenda to sweeten. So I asked our waitress for Splenda and she brought out the sweetener tray which had a dispenser with regular sugar and an assortment of packets of artificial sweetener. During our meal this other waitress whom I saw waiting on a table in another section was asked something by a diner and she looked around her area and then left and went somewhere then I saw her come back through our area and as she passed our table she stopped and looked at our table and started to walk off but turned back and walked over to our table and picked up every packet of Splenda, which wasn't many maybe three or four and walked off with them and took them to the table I originally saw her talking to. She didn't ask if I needed them or not and it was obvious I was using Splenda evidenced by the open packets laying next to the sweetener tray. I made sure my waitress heard about it and she went straight to her manager. However that manager never came to me about it.

We paid $150 extra for enhanced wifi on four devices which they said supported streaming movies and such. It was their best package. Two days of our trip the internet was down for several hours. Even the crew complained about not being able to FaceTime with their families. The rest of the time the internet service was so bad you were lucky if you could read emails. I had better service back in the old telephone analog days. Everytime I didn't use the wifi for a couple hours it took an act of congress to get reconnected. I had to go to guest services to get back online. I am a computer examiner so it's not like I was the village idiot when it comes to computers.

The shore excursions were good. We really enjoyed the Zip lines in Costa Rica. We had fun and enjoyed the crew but did not get what we paid for. Would not recommend Holland to anyone. The old Dolphin Cruise Line was much better. Other cruises we have been on had a variety of entertainment. This cruise had very little and it was always the same thing.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Nice cabin, plenty of space, great views. Only drawback being directly under the aft Lido pool deck area
