I chose the cruise advertised as "Christmas on the Rhine." We were scheduled to be on the Viking Tialfi, but was changed to the Viking Alruna without notice to the passengers. The cruise was great. The ship was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond to make every guest enjoy their cruise. The local guides were friendly and informative in the free excursions offered by Viking. I saw beautiful cities that I may never get to visit again, but we were not given enough free time to explore the cities on our own, hence the markets, because we had to rush back to the ship. My disappointment began early on when the first three days of the cruise were changed with such short notice, we would not have been able to cancel the cruise. Throughout the cruise, the crew advised us that it was (for lack of a better word) a test run. The Christmas markets were a disappointment as we either docked in cities either early in the morning and the markets were not open or we arrived later in the day and the markets were not lit up as shown in the "enhanced" pictures on Viking's website. It was much later in the cruise that we actually arrived in a city in the evening to see the markets. I would hesitate to book another cruise without doing much more research and feedback from other passengers.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin was very nice and the balcony was great for viewing along the way.
