Carnival Mardi Gras Review

Wonderful, typically Carnival experience and so happy to be back cruising once again. No better way to end a Disney vacation then with a cruise.

How amazing was it to get back to cruising!!!!!

As Gold VFIP members with Carnival, it had nearly been 7 years since our last cruise. Having a child and then the seemingly infinite pandemic shutdown, I work in healthcare — so it was comprehensively taxing, made cruising more than a little bit difficult. Living in the eastern Canadian Arctic, lockdowns, duty to the healthcare system and an abundance of caution with an unvaccinated toddler, we hadn’t taken a true vacation in nearly three calendar years. A lengthy, awesome family trip was in order and looooong overdue. Plans were made to visit family in Ontario and Newfoundland as well as our now 4 and a half year old daughters first Disney experience. Having cruised out of Orlando/Port Canaveral prior on the Carnival Sunshine, a quick scan of the Carnival website led to a late addition to our trip, a sailing on the Carnival Mardi Gras. Fit right into our plans and was too much good fortune to pass up. It’ll be Disney and then a 7 day sailing; our daughter’s introduction to both Disney and now cruising as well. Seven days ended up not being enough.

Drove by rental car to Port Canaveral after a busy but wonderful Disney vacation. Enterprise had a shuttle that brought us right to the port. Embarkation was quite smooth and, arriving within our scheduled time, we were about 35 minutes from curb side to being on the ship. Others have commented that the line looks worse than it actually is and I found that the case. Lots of agents there to assist you and get you on the way.
