Mom and 2-17 year old twin girls that love Disney. We have had a Disney cruise on our bucket list and since they are leaving home it was a great Christmas gift. We had no expectations, other than everyone telling us we would LOVE it. We've cruised on Royal, NCL, Carnival, Princess and Celebrity previously.

Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived at port around 1 PM and were on the ship in less than 20 minutes. Our rooms were ready, so after dropping our things off we headed to explore the ship. In most cases, we are able to get the lay out of the ship on the first day. Not in this case. The ship was designed with several tucked away lounges and smaller venues that it took the entirety of the cruise to get the layout down. These tucked away spots are at times inclusive of children and at times adults only. I never had a feeling of having an adult experience that the adults rave about. The elevator banks are AFT or Forward, no middle banks enclosed and small. The buttons are highly sensitive and you may think no big deal, but it was easy to not hit your floor or hit them all. I probably used the stairs more than ever. There are about 5 food options around the pool. I give an A+ in this area. Pools on the other hand get a low 1 score because they have several tiny pools and it was almost impossible to find a hot tub. Disney needs to rethink this design, particularly for sailing in warm weather. The girls went to the Teens club on the first day to get to know everyone and the staff stood there talking to themselves and did not greet them or welcome them. I had to ask if the room was open for business and only then did they introduce themselves. Most cruises have great things planned for the Teens, not so much here. But they did meet a group that they connected with.

The shows were great, nice productions. I was bit baffled with the rotational assigned dining. I didnt enjoy the Marvel night so much as I prefer not to have TV on during dinner. Arendelle, was our favorite. 1923 is very classy. The food was disappointing. Presentation was on point, baked goods were excellent, however most dishes were void of flavor. Could be attributed to trying to appease the general population. Didn't like that outside of the buffet and the food around the pool there are no other eating options (or at least I did not find them) except adult venues which were pricey. I would have enjoyed if the kids (17 yr olds) could go. They should revisit the 18 or over policy to 16.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

The room was nicely appointed and the bathroom is separated into 2 rooms, with a bath/shower sink on one side and toilet/sink on another. Nice sink storage space for toiletries. The balconies are the smallest I've encountered and come with 2 chairs (not loungers). A tall person might feel cramped. While, I typically enjoy my balcony, not so much on this cruise. Robes are provided. TV offers all things Disney and a few news channels. The bed was extremely comfortable and the soaps\shampoo provided were very nice. Adequate storage spaces, although I would have preferred some drawers in addition to the cubbies in the closet.

Port Reviews

Castaway Cay

Nice island, however, it didn't appear that there was a lot to do other than snorkle or sit on the beach.

Nassau

Since we have visited several times and did excursions, I wanted to enjoy the local flair. Walked to the Queen's staircase, the Fort, then took a cab to the Fish Fry for local cuisine. Stopped at Junkanoo Beach for a bit, bought a few Rum cakes then walked back to the ship. Enjoyed this visit the most....
