We chose this cruise to combine a great 2008, stayed, low-key, Rhine experience with Christmas Markets. Further, we invited and brought along another couple. The cruise was just ok, but, tiring (unnecessary, prolonged tours at the expense of the target Christmas Markets.) without some evidence that Viking has shifted back to our low key 2008 experience and away from a Carnival/AMWAY approach, this would probably be our last. Your folks constantly said “we listened to you”. In that spirit, I am telling you things I think you need to hear rather than what your staff indicated you want to hear.

Our cabin and maintenance was excellent and well maintained. Service at meals, while often hokey, was very good once we stuck with two good waiters. Many meals were very good, even if sometimes rushed (those damned tours). From directions by your folks on the phone, it took us well over an hour and far too much walking to find your boat. Again, in 2008, the Helvetia was moored virtually in city center. We flew in 2+ days early to enjoy Amsterdam. Because we assumed you’d dock in a convenient location to Amsterdam access, we stayed next to the train station. What a mistake - both trusting your personnel’s direction AND assuming you’d make the boat convenient. BTW, we were not on the Tialfi.

I understand, as cruise customers, we must be the anomaly. But, I’m sharing our thoughts, regardless.
