We chose this cruise as my daughter is based in Dubai. Although we enjoyed the various stops I would not consider the itinerary worthwhile enough to fly all the way from Europe for. In fairness to MSC we found the ship itself to be much better than many of the reviews on here. The cabin was clean, clearly refurbished fairly recently and the same could be said of the ship as a whole. Very clean with good furnishings and new carpets. The staff as always on cruise ships were extremely pleasant and very hardworking. In some cases overworked and let down by their bosses. There were too few staff serving at bars and sometimes it took ages to be served. The food can only be described as mediocre, both in the buffet and in the main restaurant. Done on the cheap in my opinion and not what should be expected on a cruise.

A particular gripe was the so called Omelette Station at breakfast. On three successive days my daughter asked for an omelette only to be told they were too busy making pancakes. On the third day I took this up with senior buffet staff and in fairness she did get her omelette. However, the next day I noticed they had reverted to type and were telling people they would maybe make one in 20 minutes’ time. Not good enough. But again, the fault of the manager for requiring the cooks to do other things.

Cabin Review

Very clean, comfortable, plenty of storage space. Smaller than we have had in the past, no room for a small sofa, just one desk chair
