This was our 15th cruise and and first on Cunard. I would rate it 10th or 11th. Seeyoujimmy's review further down echoes our experience. Ship is lovely but very noisy in the back of the restaurant, no conversation possible on Deck 2. It also "wags it's tail" in bad weather. Many folks missed the first gala night. Turned out the propeller was broken, we stopped for 2 nights in Cadiz to change it but they failed (this stuff can happen), but pre-cruise, Cunard lied about it, and dressed up the itinerary change as a positive development. Any company that lies to it's customers deserves to be avoided.

On my birthday, we booked the Verandah restaurant and although the food was good, the service was appalling. It felt like the waiters had been put there as a punishment. They got our orders wrong, brought food covered in tomatoes having been told not to, water not refilled, had to pour our own wine. The waiter had to ask us 3 times if we wanted coffee before he brought any. I tried to remove the service charges but they refused. I've asked Cunard for a refund of this.

Spoke to many long term Cunard customers, they all felt the standards had slipped. We found the service generally good (apart from in the Verandah) and the food was "fine", but unimaginative. On 12 nights, we had only 1 meal that we'd have been pleased to have paid for in a nice restaurant. The word I used was "safe". Maybe this is what their customers want. Maybe they also like borderline racist dinosaur comedians (we walked out). Not a patch on Princess or Celebrity, and way behind Holland America. We rated this equal 10th with MSC.

Cabin Review

Standard fare really, and bit small but good hanging space and lots of hangers. Steward was super

Port Reviews

La Coruna

Unexpectedly lovely - had a full day walking around

Gibraltar

Like 1970s Britain, but in a bad way. Just a dump. Good for Duty Free. Stay on the ship

Lisbon

One of our favourite cities in the World. If you go to Obidos (we did), take the bus, not the train

Malaga

Really nice, much nicer than the surrounding resorts

Cadiz

Well, it was Cadiz actually, which is a lovely city to wander around. Seville is stunning. Had to make our own way, but we;; worth the effort
