We have sailed on several lines including Regent and several Celebrity retreat suites. We had heard about the grand service, excellent food and lovely suites. We weren’t disappointed. However, I do believe after talking with many veteran SS cruisers that some things are not as they used to be. We found the food very good overall. The unlimited Pommery and caviar were a real treat although after 25 days we were taking advantage of this less and less. The pizza was the best and we enjoyed eating outdoors as much as we could. We loved La Terraza in the evenings. Pastas were the best I’ve ever had. Always fresh. La Dame was a nice experience but not worth the up charge to us. We commented several times that we thought a breakfast option at the pool deck (the grill) would be lovely. Someone else remarked that once breakfast was done there was nothing till 12.

The entertainment for our first segment was fun but by the third segment, we had already seen it all. Overheard a conversation that SS was moving to a new in house entertainment system. Hopefully that will make things better.

We LOVED the lectures. SS seems to be able to source the most interesting retired old guys. We had a retired Army general, a retired BBC correspondent and a variety of others. They were very polished and intersting. Sometimes even provocative - which we loved - but some didn’t.

Royal Suite 2

We had a verandah deluxe on 9 and it was perfect for us. A quick run up the stairs to the pool.
