We are catching up on cruises, and this was our third HAL in 2022. We have never cruised to this part of Mexico. We enjoyed this trip very much.
Embarkation was super-easy. Our assigned time was 11:30. The Uber took us to luggage dropoff. The only documents we were asked for were boarding pass and passport. We were sitting in the Lido by 12:30.
The ship is spotless, very clean and well maintained. The crew members, as always, were efficient, polite and friendly.
Our first Vista. We did like it better than the Verandas. It's just a big bigger but laid out so room service doesn't have to walk by the bed to the table for the tray. The little table is closer to the door.
We walked a mile to a prearranged small group food tour which we found when we looked on the internet for trip advice.
we took an inexpensive ship bus tour. On each tour there was a short stop at a cathedral. And shopping. Prices are better if you have cash.
again, a bus trip. shop, church, see the beach from a distance. the restaurant they stopped at was excellent and inexpensive.
we chose this san diego tour which ended at the airport where we retrieved our luggage from under the bus. A surprise was Balboa Park, which is more like Epcot (somewhat) than a plain park. Time for an hour lunch in Old Town. Our choice was Coyote Cafe. Also stopped at the ocean in La Jolla. Local guide. If you have a flight after 4pm this is a good way to fill four or five hours.
