Yikes, Silver Seas is a massive disappointment. I have sailed with Crystal, Oceania, Regent, and Seabourn and I was looking forward to Silver Seas but it was a big let down. There is nothing redeeming about the ship and I would strongly recommend any other line.
Three Big Issues:
1) World Cup- it was sold as a World Cup cruise. A few weeks before the cruise they send a notice to say Qatar was not allowing ships in and we would no longer be docking in Qatar. A number of the guests including myself were football fans and very disappointed by this but understood it was out of their hands. They made no effort on the ship to foster a community of football fans, they only showed the final on a big screen, we couldnt watch a number of the matches because internet and tv issues. It was beyond frustrating. The cruise director even had the audacity to say she wasnt a fan and could care less- this was a slap in the face for all the people who were frustrated. One night they told us they would put a match on the big screen but they started a movie at 730pm and the match started at 9pm. I mentioned to the staff the film started late and wouldnt be over in time. They dismissed me and told me they knew the times and it would be fine. At 9pm the film was still going. I asked again and they told us to be patient. The match was not shown until the second half and we wasted the first half for the film to finish.
