Room-We were in a lower room (1120). We usually stay in the low rooms due to the reduced prices, but I sure am sorry we did this time. When we walked into the room it was so cold, I put on a long sleeved shirt and sweater and waited for the room to warm up. It never did. We spent 11 days in the coldest room possible. We stopped at customer service 19 times, and twice guy with a temperature gauge came and took the temp of the air in the room. It was 62 degrees. The bad parts are that the air conditioner unit squealed and screamed 24 hours a day and it blew on our faces the entire time we were sleeping. We finally got fed up and went to the desk on the 7th night and demanded another room. They sent us to spend the night in a room two doors down and it had the same problem but stunk of sewage. We eventually got another blanket, but it was like pulling teeth. Our room steward was great and did everything he could. He found that they have padding that they stick in the unit to muffle the sound, and four engineers later, told us they didn't have any. We both got sick on day 6 and suffered the whole trip. We couldn't sleep, despite earplugs and sleeping in sweats and a sweatshirt, a blanket over our faces. It was sooooo cold. The second guy who came to take the temp of the unit said it was 58 degrees in there and "fixed" it by replacing the thermostat. It spun around in a circle, just like the first one. When we debarked we spoke to other passengers who suffered as we did.

Food-We did not find that the DR was any better than the Lido. The chef was Indian, and there were four stations that exclusively served Indian food. Discovered that we don't like curry, and couldn't find a single main area that didn't have curry, except for the salad bar. I asked the chef which dish had no curry and he pointed to a dish and said "this one doesn't have much". It was even on the bread and several desserts. We spent the rest of the cruise eating lunch and dinner at the pizza and burger joints.

TRANSPORTATION: DO NOT USE HOLLAND TRANSPORTATION!! We spent two hours waiting in the terminal for Holland Transport. We were assured it was coming. Then we spent an hour in the rain with our suitcases, with very little cover. When we finally asked our rep, she explained that their drivers can't drive in the rain. We asked and finally found our bus, and he got lost. Even with us holding up our phones and telling him which way to go. He was dangerous and did uturns in the middle of intersections, or backed up into traffic. When we finally found our turn, he turned the exact opposite way. We left the airport at 11:15 and arrived at the terminal at 2:45. We cancelled 2 cruises we were planning on taking on Holland, with a value of about $15,000.

Cabin Review

Awful. We will never travel Holland again after the connecting cruise. We were so sick after having freezing air blowing into our faces for 11 days.

Port Reviews

Curacao

It rained a lot, but we took a walk and enjoyed ourselves. Very scenic.
