We were met with by Viking in Buenos Aires; we were escorted to buses that took us to the Hilton Hotel. Coffee, orange juice and croissants were available as we waited to check into our rooms. The next morning there was a lavish breakfast, then buses to take us to the airport and in to Ushuaia. We were met again and bused to our ship, Polaris. Embarkation was a bit confusing and chaotic. The rest of the trip was not. We had a port side cabin on the second level. Very comfortable with a large window that could be lowered. Free laundry rooms on the third and fourth levels so laundry very simple to do. Never crowded. Food excellent with many choices. Two restaurants, grill, Japanese sushi bar, Norwegian cafe and international cuisine. Freshly made breads, and desserts daily. Expedition trips well run. The crew accommodated trips ashore as weather permitted. Zodiac’s always available. The special ops and submersibles could not accommodate everyone who wanted to use them. Flexibility the key as weather is quite unpredictable. Lectures every day. Lectures available to watch in our staterooms as well as in the large theater. Passenger involvement encouraged with scientific experiments being conducted daily. Entertainment nightly; a fabulous cello and piano duo on the 5th level. Singing duo on the 4th level. More to do, explore, and enjoy than time to do it. Also a spa, indoor and outdoor pool. Truly travelled in comfort. Superlative crew made the trip exceptional. Got back to Ushuaia and had a couple hours to explore. Next day, buses took us to the airport. In Buenos Aires Viking reserved a section of the Hard Rick Cafe while we waited for our planes back to the U.S.
Comfortable. Seating area looking out the window. Coffee maker in each room. TV had large selection of movies, Viking tv, and other options.
